About the Author

Erwin “Dallas Cake” Pilgrim was forged in the shadows of New York’s streets and the institutions meant to contain them. Raised in foster homes, group placements, and correctional facilities, he grew up inside the very systems that claimed to rehabilitate — but instead profited from pain. His writing is both testimony and challenge: to expose the failures of incarceration and to advocate for reform that prioritizes humanity.

Pilgrim’s work does more than tell his own story; it amplifies the voices of the unheard. Through Criminal Minded and future volumes, he calls out injustice while showing the resilience required to survive it. His mission is clear: turn cages into classrooms, and punishment into purpose.
